ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College women's soccer team battled until the final minute in its Homecoming matchup, while dropping a hard-fought 4-0 contest to Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Herbert Field.
The Dutchmen (4-5-0, 0-2-0 MAC Freedom) generated some offensive opportunities early in the first half, as
Abrielle Miller put shots on goal that were saved at the 0:35 and 7:26 marks. The Ducks (4-5-3, 3-0-0 MAC Freedom) countered with two shots within four seconds in the 12th minute, but LVC answered with a pair of saves by goalkeeper
Camryn Porter. Stevens then scored 15:42 into the game on goal by Alana Odom and at the 19:29 mark on a goal by Alina Friz, taking a 2-0 lead.
Lebanon Valley kept tallying shots as the first stanza progressed, as
McKenna Valentine sent an attempt over the net at the 20:14 mark. The Ducks followed this with another shot on target at the 23:42 mark, and Porter came through with a save for the Flying Dutchmen. Stevens also attempted a shot at the 38:23 mark, and LVC's defense responded with a block. The Dutchmen logged the last two shots before the break, as
Chloe Moser and Miller each sent a try above the net. At halftime, the Ducks led 2-0.
Stevens resumed the scoring 2:21 into the second half, going up 3-0 on another goal by Odom. The Ducks then registered a shot at the 53:02 mark that Porter saved for Lebanon Valley, and an attempt at the 58:05 mark that was blocked. The Dutchmen also kept battling offensively, as Miller took a shot 60:02 into the contest that went over the upper-right corner of the net, and
Mikhaela Sartor had a try saved at the 68:08 mark.
Stevens proceeded to record six shots with three shots on goal over the next 10:19, and Porter made three saves for LVC during this stretch. The Ducks scored again at the 78:57 mark on a goal by Avalyn Irwin, taking a 4-0 advantage. Later in the stanza, Porter posted her eighth save for the Flying Dutchmen at the 87:45 mark. Ultimately, the score was maintained through the end of the game.
