MADISON, N.J. – Abrielle Miller scored a goal for the Lebanon Valley College women's soccer team just one minute into the game, which was the decisive tally in the program's 1-0 victory over FDU-Florham on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Robert T. Shields Field. Goalkeeper
Camryn Porter also posted a game-high six saves for LVC during a shutout performance.
The Dutchmen (6-5-0, 2-2-0 MAC Freedom) didn't waste any time generating an offensive opportunity, taking a 1-0 lead over the Devils (6-5-4, 1-3-1 MAC Freedom) when Miller sent the game's first shot into the upper-left portion of the net for a goal. The senior found the net just 60 seconds into the first half, courtesy of an assist by
Megan Ressler. FDU-Florham followed this by recording an 8-2 advantage in shots over the next 22:17. During this stretch, Porter delivered saves for Lebanon Valley at the 11:28, 11:31, 14:09, 20:02, and 23:17 marks. Offensively,
Ashlynn Newton and Miller both put a shot on target for LVC during this span.
The programs proceeded to battle defensively during the next 15 minutes, as neither squad registered a shot during this stretch. Each team then logged one shot during the remainder of the opening stanza, including a try by the Devils that Porter saved for the Flying Dutchmen at the 43:16 mark. Lebanon Valley entered halftime with its one-goal advantage.
The Dutchmen kept tallying shots when the second half started, as Ressler sent an attempt over the upper-right corner of the net at the 46:53 mark. The teams then went back and forth defensively for over 20 minutes, as neither program took another shot until Miller had a try saved at the 67:20 mark. Later in the stanza,
Mikayla Mitchell also put a shot on target for LVC that was saved 76:56 into the contest.
Miller continued to register shots for Lebanon Valley as the end of the game approached, putting a shot on goal that was saved at the 82:02 mark. FDU-Florham countered with a shot at the 83:25 mark, which went to the right of the net. The Flying Dutchmen followed this with a shot by Miller that went off the left post at the 84:28 mark, before the senior sent a shot off the crossbar with just 1:02 left.
