CHESTER, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's soccer team surrendered two second-half goals, falling to Widener, 2-0, in Chester on Tuesday afternoon.

The loss sets up an all-important meeting with Arcadia on Saturday for the chance at a spot in the Commonwealth Conference Tournament. The Dutchmen will likely need a win and possibly help from other teams to slide into the fifth and final seed.

The first half of play was dominated by LVC, holding an 11-3 edge in shots in the opening 20 minutes. Following the break, Widener's Karen Thomas opened the scoring finishing a breakaway chance past the right side of LVC senior goalkeeper Becca Sykes. Just 10 minutes later, an own goal pushed the score to 2-0, where it would stand through the final whistle.

Sykes made five saves on the day, allowing two goals on 10 shots faced. Shots were 19-9 in favor of the Dutchmen, while LVC held the 5-2 advantage in corner kicks. Junior Amanda Douglass and senior Heather Tran led the offense with five shots apiece.

Kickoff on the Valley's senior day showdown with Arcadia on Saturday afternoon is set for 12 p.m.
