ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley won its home debut, picking up new records by
Bobby Burkhart and
Alicia Hain in the process as they swept a dual meet with Arcadia.
The Dutchmen (both 1-1) won the men's side 132-95, and the women's meet 138-118, behind 12 total event wins. The team also held their third annual Pink Meet, raising money for LVC's Relay For Life in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Burkhart set the men's 100m breaststroke record, winning in 1:12.13 to take two-tenths off John Hennan's mark of 1:12.34 set in 2009. It was one of three wins for Burkhart, including the 200m breaststroke and the 200m IM in exhibition. The men had five event wins in total, including
Dan Weinel's 25.47 time in the 50-free, which came just 0.35 off the school mark that has stood since 1993, and
David Corvino's 58.94 win in the 100m free.
Garrett Collins won the 200m free in 2:07.03, and the 200m free relay of
Timothy Carroll,
Blade Umstead, Corvino, and Weinel won in exhibition in 1:46.24.
For the women, Hain reset her own 200m backstroke mark, finishing second in 2:37.53 to take more than a second-and-a-half off her previous career best of 2:38.95 set in the 2010-11 season. LVC's women compiled seven event wins overall, including
Jan Ikeda in the 100m fly (1:07.32) and 200m fly (2:35.46), a pair by freshman
Kyra Valent in the 400m and 800m free (5:08.03 and 10:34.42, respectively),
Julia Mongeau in the 100m and 200m breaststrokes (1:25.87 and 3:09.03, respectively), and in the 200m medley relay, where Hain, Mongeau, Ikeda, and
Lauren Decker linked up for a 2:10.99 victory. Hain also added a 200m free win to her record in the 200m back, winning in 2:22.42.
LVC will host Ursinus on Nov. 2.
