READING, Pa. - Lebanon Valley started the 2013-14 season Tuesday night with a dual meet at Albright.
The Lions won both meets, with the men's score at 115-78 and the women's at 119-80. The men recorded nine MAC Championships qualifying times overall, and the women notched seven.
Dan Weinel and
Bobby Burkhart highlighted the meet for the men, finishing in a dead heat to win the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:05.75, just four-hundreths of a second ahead of Albright's Josh Park. Freshman
Garrett Collins scored a second-place finish in the 200-yard free, touching in a MAC-qualifying 1:56.63, and
Matt Dwyer and
Bryce Betz went 2-3 in the 100-backstroke in 1:02.05 and 1:02.26, respectively, both MAC times.
Freshman
Kyra Valent came within two seconds of the program's 1,000-yard freestyle record, finishing third a second ahead of teammate and recordholder
Alicia Hain, both in MAC-qualifying times.
Jan Ikeda had a second-place 2:22.89 in the 200-yard IM, and
Alayna Kalinay earned a MAC-qualifying second place 1:02.05 in the 100-yard backstroke.
LVC will open up at home Saturday with its third annual Pink Meet against Arcadia.
