Hood 63, Lebanon Valley 55
FREDERICK, Md. - Lebanon Valley couldn't overcome a hot second half by Hood as it fell 63-55 in a Commonwealth Conference game Wednesday night.
The Dutchmen (7-9, 4-5 CC) went cold in the second half after taking their only lead of the game midway through the period, as the Blazers (10-5, 4-4 CC) held them without a field goal for nearly four minutes while taking control of the game.
Danny Brooks led LVC with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while
Kevin Agnew and
Joey Giangiobbe each scored 10. Cameron Cook had a terrific night on the outside for Hood, scoring 20 points, including six three-pointers.
LVC was forced to play without starting guard and reigning CC player of the week
Matt O'Brien, who was held out due to injury. That didn't stop them from shooting 50% (11-for-22) in the first half, but five three-pointers by Hood made the difference as they led 29-25 at halftime.
Hood ran its lead to 11 early in the second half, but a three-pointer followed by a three-pointer play for
Ryan Kinard keyed a 12-0 run that saw LVC lead 44-43 at the 12:36 mark.
The Blazers immediately turned around the momentum, however, taking the lead back on Jeremy Veres' layup and never giving it back as it pushed the lead to as much as 11 down the stretch as LVC shot 9-for-25 (36%) in the second half.
LVC returns home Saturday to host Alvernia on Hot Dog Frank Day.
