Box Score POMONA, N.J. – Goals from freshmen
Greg Figueroa and
Joe Gallagher were enough to push the Dutchmen past Richard Stockton Friday on the opening day of the Stockton Seashore Classic. LVC beat the hosts by a 2-1 final.
Stockton (1-2) was first on the board on a header goal by Clevon McPherson. They were able to hold the lead deep into the second half before succumbing to an LVC (4-0) team that's proven its tenacity through four games.
Figueroa scored the equalizer in the 70
th minute off a cross set up by
Travis Miller. The goal was Figueroa's first of the season. Gallagher's 20-yard goal in the 78
th minute was also his first, and it came off a pass from
Andrew Cooper.
James Clements improved to 3-0 in goal, playing the entire game with four saves. Clements was tasked to make just one save in the second half, as LVC outshot Stockton 14-10.
The Dutchmen are scheduled to play the College of New Jersey Saturday at 3 p.m.
