W. Basketball Hosts E-Town In CC Semifinals Wednesday

Live Coverage

ANNVILLE, Pa. -
For the fifth consecutive season, the #20 Lebanon Valley women's basketball team will play in the Commonwealth Conference tournament, and it begins at LVC Gymnasium Wednesday night against Elizabethtown at 7 p.m.

All LVC students, faculty, and staff will be admitted to the game FREE courtesy of Student Government and Student Affairs. Tickets for the general public are $6 for adults, $4 for seniors, $2 for visiting students, and no charge for children under 6.

Live stats and audio are available on GoDutchmen.com, and the game will air live on WMSS 91.1 FM.

When the Dutchmen hosted the Blue Jays in the Pink Game on Feb. 8, there was already a widespread feeling that these two teams would meet again in the tournament. LVC had already clinched a berth and was two wins from sealing home-court advantage. Elizabethtown was heating up, having won four of its previous five.

LVC won that game and the previous game at Elizabethtown on Jan. 18. In fact, they have won the last 11 meetings dating back to 2006.

This season, the Dutchmen (28-3, 13-1 CC) did not lose a conference game until Feb. 14, when they lost at Widener.

Leading the team's scoring is Tierney Hiltz, who averages 11.3 points per game. She also ranks second on the team in assists (3.3 per game) behind only Kiely Chaklos, who happens to lead the conference with 4.1 assists per game.

Collectively, the Dutchmen rank at the top of the conference in team defense, allowing just 49.8 points per game. Caitlin Bach ranks third in the conference with a team-high 8.1 rebounds per game. Hiltz leads the team in steals with 2.8 per game. Renee Fritz leads in blocks with 1.2 per game. Both women rank second in the conference in their respective statistic.

Taylor Kreider leads the Blue Jays with 11.8 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. She was held to nine points in the teams' last meeting but managed to grab nine boards.

The Blue Jays are a team that loves shots from downtown. They lead the league in three-pointers made with 5.4 per game; Stephanie Ellwood ranks second with a .395 percentage from beyond the arc.

Wednesday's game tips off at 7 p.m. The winner will play either Messiah or Widener in the championship game Saturday.
