Messiah 57, Lebanon Valley 51

GRANTHAM, Pa. - Lebanon Valley's late comeback bid fell short as Messiah held off the Dutchmen for a 57-51 win at Brubaker Auditorium.

The Dutchmen (10-10, 3-6 CC) were held to a season-low in scoring as the Falcons (13-5, 8-1 CC) avenged their early-season overtime loss to the Dutchmen, their only setback in Commonwealth Conference play.

Danny Brooks led all scorers with a career-high 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting, and Jordan Stewart added nine and Cameron Prince eight. LVC shot just 30.8% for the game despite committing just six turnovers.

David Fernandez paced Messiah with 16 points and Derek Mosley had 12 points and nine rebounds. The Falcons shot 44.9% for the game.

LVC controlled the game early before Messiah ended the first half on a 7-0 run to carry a 29-20 lead into the break. The Falcons extended their lead to as much as 10 at 40-30, but the Dutchmen slowly chipped away and made it a one-basket game after a pair of Brooks free throws with 2:25 remaining.

Messiah answered back with baskets by Mosley and Runkle before Prince canned a step-back three-pointer with 1:11 to play to cut the lead to 54-50. That would be LVC's final basket as they went 0-for-4 in the final minute while Messiah's Brad Bolen iced the game with a transition layup.

LVC will visit Alvernia on Saturday.
