#13 Lebanon Valley 66, Arcadia 50
GLENSIDE, Pa. - Another shut-down defensive game by #13 Lebanon Valley halted Arcadia on the way to a 66-50 win on Wednesday.
The Dutchmen (6-1, 3-1 CC) held the Knights (4-3, 0-3 CC) to just 22.8% shooting overall as they used a balanced offense to get it done on the other end of the court.
Renee Fritz led LVC with 12 points and nine boards, and
Kiely Chaklos scored 10 points to go with four boards and five assists.
Lauren Ruhl and
Liz Borgia each scored nine off the bench for LVC, which pulled away with a 16-2 run in the middle of the first half.
The two teams played a tight opening five minutes before consecutive jumpers by Chaklos,
Caitlin Bach, and Fritz put some space between them, and back-to-back Ruhl three-pointers at the midpoint of the first half put the Valley up 22-10.
Arcadia pulled closer with 6-0 spurt to cut LVC's lead to seven, but that would be as close as they'd get. Buckets by
Kerri Stolle, Chaklos, Hiltz, and another Ruhl longball gave LVC the lead for good as they held Arcadia scoreless over the final 6:34 of the first half.
The second half was more of the same as the Dutchmen outscored their opponents 14-4 over the opening six minutes to secure the win and clear the benches as the lead ballooned to as much as 33. LVC ended up shooting 44.1% for the game, and scored 26 points off the bench.
LVC will visit Alvernia on Saturday.
