GLENSIDE, Pa. - Danny Brooks scored his 1,000th career point with a career game, but it wasn't enough as Lebanon Valley fell short of an incredible comeback attempt at Arcadia, 76-67.

Brooks canned a baseline leaner with 13:52 left in the game to become Lebanon Valley's 33rd player to 1,000, but he didn't stop there, ending up with a career-high 31 on 11-of-16 shooting and a 9-of-10 night at the stripe.

The Dutchmen (3-4, 2-2 CC), though, couldn't keep up with a hot-shooting Arcadia in the first half as they fell behind 12-0 at the start, and the Knights (4-2, 3-1 CC) piled up a 25-point lead later in the game.

LVC made a charge late in the game, nearly erasing the lead with a late 15-0 run and drawing as close as 70-67 with 1:09 left, but a win wasn't in the cards as Arcadia made its free throws in the final minute to seal the victory.

Ryan Kinard keyed the run with three buckets (he finished with 11) before consecutive lay-ins by Brooks and Joey Giangiobbe brought the game in reach at 70-67. Arcadia's Khalief Trawick missed a jumper at the other end, but Matt O'Brien's turnover led to two Malcolm Still free throws, and Kevin Agnew was hit with an offensive foul at the other end with 23 seconds left.

Brooks, whose previous career high was 26, has been incredibly consistent in his scoring over the past season and change; he is currently on a streak of 32 consecutive games scoring 15 or more points. He is also closing in on 500 rebounds; his 11-board performance Wednesday puts him at 489, and he would be only the eighth Dutchman to score 1,000 points and grab 500 boards.

McCarthy led Arcadia with 17 points, one of four Knights in double figures. Arcadia shot 53% in the first half, but went cold after the break with 28.6% shooting in the second. LVC likewise flipped it around, shooting 59.3% in the second after an 8-for-25 (32%) first half.

LVC will visit Alvernia on Saturday at 3 p.m.
