Lebanon Valley 76, Misericordia 67
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Kiely Chaklos scored a season-high 27 points and
Tierney Hiltz pieced together a double-double in a 76-67 win over Misericordia Saturday afternoon.
The #13 Dutchmen (9-2) needed a 13-2 run to create separation late in the second half, capping a game in which the lead changed hands five times. The Cougars (5-3) held a lead as late as 5:52 in the second half before giving way to LVC's run.
Chaklos was the game's top scorer. Hiltz and
Renee Fritz contributed 11 points each, and
Caitlin Bach neared double digits with eight points. Hiltz and Bach recorded 11 rebounds each, giving Hiltz her second double-double of the season.
After seeing Misericordia score a pair of unanswered layups in the first minute of the game, Chaklos helped key a 14-0 run that gave LVC its first lead. The game balanced from there, giving a crowd brave enough to travel through snow a competitive bout.
LVC, which entered the day leading the nation in rebounding margin, bested Misericordia 52-29 at the boards to create chances. The Dutchmen shot 44.6 percent from the field, including a 10-for-14 performance from Chaklos.
The Dutchmen return to action in the new year at Franklin & Marshall on Jan. 2.
