Lebanon Valley 59, Frostburg State 67
FROSTBURG, Md. - #13 Lebanon Valley met its match at Frostburg State Thursday night. The Dutchmen led through much of the second half and had the game tied with just over three minutes to play before allowing eight unanswered points in the final stretch of a 67-59 loss.
Kiely Chaklos had a strong night offensively, scoring a team-high 17 points with a perfect 3-for-3 night at the free throw line.
Tierney Hiltz and
Renee Fritz were also consistent scorers with 14 and 11, respectively.
Caitlin Bach neared a double-double and led the team with nine rebounds to go with eight points.
Though they trailed through most of the first half, the Dutchmen (8-2) closed out strong with a 7-0 run built on a three pointer from Hiltz and a pair of baskets from Fritz. They headed to halftime up 32-30.
LVC led by five three different times early on in the second half, but the game continually balanced out. The score tied six times in the half and 11 in the game. The final 8-0 run by the Bobcats (4-6) broke a 59-59 tie.
LVC shot a respectable 44 percent in the first half but fell off a bit to 32 percent after the break. In contrast, Frostburg State improved from 42 percent to just over 46 percent.
The Dutchmen return to their home court over break to host Misericordia on Dec. 29.
