W. Basketball Holds Annual Special Olympics Clinic

ANNVILLE, Pa. - On Dec. 27, the Lebanon Valley College women's basketball team gave back to the community with its annual Special Olympics basketball clinic.

“The players run the clinic and put together a collegiate practice plan for the athletes,” head coach Todd Goclowski said. “LVC coaches are there for support and participation.”

Goclowski started the clinic with the Lebanon County Special Olympics in his first season at LVC in 2006-07 but has since handed control of the event's planning and execution to his team.

“We enjoy sharing our love of basketball with other athletes who love it, too,” Goclowski said. “The shared experience is wonderful and generates a great sense of camaraderie among all the gathered athletes. It gives our basketball program a chance to connect with our community and other athletes.”

His athletes are well accustomed to contributing their time, as Goclowski has been a leader in community service. In addition to the team's work with the Special Olympics, he was also instrumental in the first ever WBCA PinkZone event that benefits the American Cancer Society in 2008. The event continues every season and is another annual success.
