SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Led by
Liz Borgia's 16 points, five Lebanon Valley players reached double-scoring in a 72-45 win at Susquehanna Tuesday night. Meanwhile,
Caitlin Bach became the first to score a double-double this season with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
The #9 Dutchmen (4-0) allowed the Crusaders (2-2) just 15 points in the first half.
It took just 12 seconds for
Kiely Chaklos to score the first basket of the game, giving the Dutchmen the first of 38 points they would score before halftime. The basket also kicked off a 7-0 run.
The Crusaders scored seven points in the first six minutes of the game. From there, the Dutchmen pieced together another 9-0 run led by five points from Borgia, and by halftime, LVC led 38-15.
The Dutchmen led 25-21 in rebounding and used opportunities well, shooting 48 percent from the field before the break.
The Crusaders scored eight of the first 10 points in the second half, including a pair of three pointers, but the Dutchmen kept working.
Amanda Donia sank a pair of free throws with 1:24 to play to give the team its largest lead of the season, 33 points, at 72-39.
Susquehanna scored the final six points of the game but lost to the Dutchmen, 72-45.
Though they shot just 36.7 percent in the second half from the field, the Dutchmen were a perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line.
After Borgia and Bach, LVC's scoring leaders were: Chaklos, 13;
Renee Fritz, 11; and
Tierney Hiltz, 10. Defensively, Fritz and Hiltz both had eight boards, too.
Next up, the Dutchmen host Messiah on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 6 p.m. in a rematch of last season's Commonwealth Conference Championship.
