ANNVILLE, Pa. - Joe Meehan scored his 1,000th career as part of an 18-point effort to lead Lebanon Valley past Arcadia, 78-58, in a Commonwealth Conference game on Saturday.

The win put the Dutchman (13-6, 4-4 CC) at .500 in the conference, potentially moving up into playoff contention depending on the results of the late games between Widener-Messiah and Albright-Lycoming.

Meehan became the 32nd player in program history to reach 1,000 career points, and one of a select few to do it as a junior when he sank a free-throw with 8:22 left in the second half. He had earlier hit a half-court buzzerbeater to end the first half.

Anthony Trautman led LVC scorers with 24 points, including four three-pointers, and Jordan Stewart added 10 points with nine boards. Joey Giangiobbe came off the bench for nine points and six rebounds. Arcadia's Damian Palantino led all scorers with 26 points, including a gymnasium-record eight three-pointers, while Aaron Benusis had an impressive defensive game, also setting a gymnasium record with eight blocks.

Newly-inaugurated Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett, a 1971 LVC graduate, took in the game on Alumni Day, and LVC didn't disappoint as they overcame a slow start to make a mid-half run and take 28-19 lead after back-to-back baskets by Meehan and Trautman. Meehan's half-courter to end the half put the Dutchmen up 36-23 at the break.

LVC quickly blew the game open to start the second half, going up 23 with a 7-0 run following a Giangiobbe layup 7:32 into the half. Arcadia started to hit some three-pointers late in the half and cut the lead to to 13, but Trautman scored nine straight points to halt the comeback bid and put the game away for LVC.

LVC shot 44.1% overall, including 4-for-7 for three, while outrebounding the Knights (5-13, 0-8 CC) 40-30 and forcing 20 Arcadia turnovers.

The Dutchmen head to Lycoming on Wednesday for a key CC game.
