Box Score
PALMYRA, Pa. -
Marisa Maxwell's first career hat trick led #4 Lebanon Valley to a 7-2 win over Susquehanna under the bubble at the In The Net complex in Palmyra.
The heavy rain soaking the region forced the game to be moved from LVC's campus to the indoor facility at In The Net, but the switch didn't phase the Dutchmen as they improved to a perfect 8-0.
With three assists,
Caitlin Vasey became just the fifth player in program history to reach 25 career assists; the sophomore is also the fastest to get there, doing so in 31 career games.
Shelly Lobach, LVC's all-time assists leader, also reached her milestone 40th career helper, cracking the NCAA's top 25 list in the process.
Jocelyn Novak also inched closer to the LVC all-time goals record, scoring twice to put her at 82 for her career, six shy of the program mark.
Allison Bicher also scored twice to increase her season total to 11.
LVC dominated the first half with 23 shots, and scored in the 12th minute when Novak picked a rebound off the goalie's pads to go up 1-0 before Bicher scored on a Vasey cross a half-minute later.
Maxwell notched a natural hat trick in a span of just 7:55, subbing in and immediately scoring from Vasey's breakaway feed at 28:25, and hitting quickly again off Sam Shober's pass 34 seconds later. She finished the trifecta by burying a rebound at 28:59.
Novak and Bicher added early second-half goals as LVC built a 7-0 lead. Susquehanna spoiled the shut out (and ended LVC's span of 388:44 without allowing a goal) when Nicole Solino scored at 57:30, and Ally Bradley added a late goal at 67:42.
Christine Poletti got the win with three saves in 56:13 of play;
Chloe Baro made a stop and allowed both goals in 13:47 of relief. SU's Margaret Ruth took the loss and allowed five and stopped 10 in 42:27 of play; Erin Ferguson had seven saves in 27:33.
LVC held big margins in shots (37-9) and corners (12-3).
The Dutchmen visit Eastern Mennonite on Saturday.
