Big First Half Lifts #5 LVC Past DeSales, 8-0

. - First-half hat tricks by Jocelyn Novak and Shelly Lobach led #5 Lebanon Valley as it turned in an 8-0 win over DeSales on Thursday.

The Dutchmen (5-0) overcame a steady rain to push out to an 8-0 lead on the Bulldogs (4-2) by halftime as they ripped off 23 first-half shots.

Novak's hat trick was her second of the season and 12th of her career, while Lobach notched her second career three-goal game.

Marisa Maxwell and Megan Harris also added goals, and assists came from Caitlin Vasey, Sam Shober, Allison Bicher, Novak, and Cate Cusack.

Lobach put the Dutchmen on the board at 5:29 when she stuffed in a rebounded shot from Vasey off a corner, and Novak added another at 10:56 after Shober's hit from the right side of the arc. Novak added her second three minutes later when she deflected Bicher's cross, and Bicher set up Maxwell's first goal of the year at 18:42.

LVC piled on four more goals before the end of the half, starting with Lobach's second as she picked a ball off the goalie's pads at 22:59, and then as Harris scored her first career goal out of a scrum at 23:23.

Novak set up Lobach for another goal at 29:17, before finishing her own hat trick with 25 seconds left in the half when she went 1-2 with Cusack on a breakaway.

Christine Poletti made one save in the first half to earn the win; Chloe Baro made two stops in the second half. Victoria DelToro had 10 saves for DeSales.

LVC held a 27-4 shots advantage overall (23-1 in the first half), and led 9-2 on corners.

The Dutchmen will visit Stevenson on Saturday.
