Women's Hoops To Host Alvernia In CC Semifinals Wednesday

The Dutchmen return to the Commonwealth Conference women's basketball playoffs for the third-straight year, and host Alvernia Wednesday at 7 p.m., marking the second-straight meeting of the two teams.
 
Last year, LVC defeated Albright 56-51 in the semifinals to advance to the Commonwealth Conference Championship game. The Dutchmen then fell to Widener in two overtimes in the title game, 75-72.
 
Lebanon Valley and Alvernia split the season series this year, with the Dutchmen recording a 79-64 win back in January at home. The Crusaders used home field advantage in the last game of the regular season to claim a 70-59 victory.
 
Admission will be charged for all Commonwealth Conference playoff games. The cost for adults is $6, seniors is $4, students is $2 and children under six will get in free of charge.

2009-10 Playoffs
While #1 seed LVC entertains #4 Alvernia, #2 Messiah hosts #3 Widener. The Falcons swept Widener in the regular season, giving them the second seed after both teams finished with an 11-3 record. Alvernia claimed the fourth seed after recording back-to-back wins at home over nationally-ranked Messiah and Lebanon Valley.
 
LVC vs. Alvernia During the Regular Season
Lebanon Valley and Alvernia split the season series, with the Dutchmen recording a 79-64 win over Alvernia at home on Jan. 9. Junior Suzie Noyes tied her career high with 25 points in the game, hitting 9-of-16 shots, including 5-of-7 in the second half. Alex Velazquez paced the Crusaders with 11 points and 12 rebounds. In the regular season finale, Alvernia posted a 70-59 victory behind Kelli McIntyre's 20 points. Three players led LVC with 10 points or more, including leading scorer Eryn Schultz.
 
Last Year
Grabbing the #2 seed, Lebanon Valley hosted Albright in the semifinals and recorded a 56-51 win with a comeback in the final minute. Lori Lidlow took the lead for the Dutchmen by converting a three-point play with 51 seconds left, and Andrea Hoover notched a steal with 25 seconds left to go to cap off a grind-out game that saw neither team lead by more than three over the final five minutes. The win sent LVC to the Championship game against Widener, with the Pride recording a 75-72 double overtime victory to claim the Conference crown. Suzie Noyes posted a team-high 25 points, 13 rebounds and four steals in the loss.
 
Scouting Lebanon Valley
The junior class has led the Dutchmen all season long and continue to as all three players lead the team in scoring. Eryn Schultz maintains a team-best 13.9 points per game and 81 three-pointers made, while Suzie Noyes averages 12.2 points per game, 5.7 rebounds per game and has a team-high 30 blocks. Andrea Hoover rounds out the top-three with 11.3 points per game and a team-high 132 assists. Two key team stats to watch are free throw percentage (LVC shot .743 to opponents' .679 at the line this year) and turnovers (LVC was +102 on turnovers in the regular season).
 
Scouting Alvernia
The Crusaders have been red-hot to finish the season, winning four-straight and eight of their last nine games, including back-to-back wins over nationally-ranked opponents Messiah and Lebanon Valley. Against Messiah, Alvernia trailed by nine points at the half. Kelli McIntyre went on to score 17 of her game-high 21 points in the second half to record the 63-60 win. In the game against Lebanon Valley, the Crusaders dominated the second half and went up by as much as 18 points. McIntyre paced Alvernia again, scoring 13 of her 20 points in the second half, while Alex Velazquez posted nine of her 15 points in the final 20 minutes.
 
Noting LVC in the CC Playoffs
LVC is making its ninth appearance in the MAC or Commonwealth Conference playoffs ... LVC has a 3-8 all-time playoff record ... This is LVC's first #1 seeding since 2001-02 and second overall... LVC has never won the conference title, but has reached the final three times, in 2001-02, 2007-08, and 2008-09.
