ANNVILLE, Pa.
- Lebanon Valley beat rival Albright for the first time since 2006, controlling the game from start to finish to win 28-13 at Arnold Field.

The win, LVC's fifth in a row, puts them at 6-4 to finish the year, and they will await a possible ECAC Bowl berth when the pairings are announced on Monday. The Dutchmen completed a remarkable season turnaround after starting the year 1-4, and finish tied for second in the Middle Atlantic Conference at 5-2.

Most importantly for LVC students, the win could get them an extra day off of school. They will march to the President's home, Kreiderheim, on Monday at 4 p.m. to make the traditional request of the day before Thanksgiving off.

"I told those kids, what we did from the time we went 1-4 to now, is just something they can always be proud of," said coach Jim Monos. "It's one thing to say it, but it's another thing to do it against quality opponents."

Those five straight wins will give LVC added résumé material to stand out in a crowded field of 6-4 contenders hoping for an ECAC Bowl spot.

"They really want to play another game, and I do too," Monos said. "We would love to get a bid. It would be really neat to play one more with these guys."

Ben Guiles ran for 142 yards and two touchdowns to take his season total to a record 1,285 yards and 17 touchdowns; tight end Brendan Riley had a career game on his senior day, catching six balls for 68 yards and a touchdown.

LVC's defense came up with big stop after big stop, causing three turnovers and holding Albright to 4-of-9 on third-down conversions with a fourth-down goal line stop. Zach Bleiler had three sacks and a blocked PAT, Alex Gilchrist led with nine tackles, and Dane Eichelberger and Tim Ridewood started and ended the game with interceptions.

Caleb Fick had an efficient 15-for-24 day for 137 yards, but the reliance was on the rushing game as LVC racked up 194 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Albright replaced starting QB Adam Galczynski with backup TJ Luddy, who had a solid 14-for-20 for 176 yards in the air and 54 yards rushing.

Eichelberger came up with an opening-drive pick on Galczynski to set up Riley's four-yard touchdown catch, and Albright's Josan Holmes would score on a long 80-yard drive early in the second quarter to make it 7-6 after Bleiler blocked the PAT.

It stayed that way until after the half when LVC came out and benefited from a 54-yard Jake Zeigler kick return to set up Guiles' first touchdown, and the junior scored again after Clay Chaney recovered a Luddy snap fumble at midfield to go up 21-6.

LVC put the icing on the game early in the fourth as they stopped Holmes at the goal line, then marched off a 97-yard, 8:07 drive capped by Blair Ransom's four-yard score to lead 28-6.

Luddy threw a late seven-yard TD to Sean Caldwell, but LVC killed more than four minutes off the clock before giving the ball back, and Ridewood punctuated the win with a jumpball interception at midfield.

Game Notes
It was LVC's first win over Albright since 2006 and just second since 1994 ... The rivalry is LVC's most-played; it was the 90th meeting dating to 1898 ... Traditionally, students get the day off before Thanksgiving if LVC wins the game (it is a half-day of classes), but they have to march up the hill to the president's home the Monday after to request the day off ... President Stephen MacDonald will not be available Monday, so Dean Mike Green will fill in ... Pennsylvania Governor-elect Tom Corbett, a 1971 Lebanon Valley graduate, was in attendance for the second time this year ... LVC held Holmes, the MAC's fourth-best rusher, to just 31 yards ... Guiles' 142 yards was his 11th career 100-yard game ... He finishes with 17 touchdowns to break Charlie Parker '10's single-season mark of 15 ... Fick ends up with 5,796 career yards, and would need 139 yards in a potential ECAC game to become LVC's all-time leading passer ... Fick did break Dan Kelly '07's attempts record of 824, and has 839 ... Bleiler finishes with 27.5 career sakcs, third all-time ... He is also a half-sack shy of the single-season record of 12.0 ... Zeigler had a great all-around day on special teams, returning two kicks for a 35.5-yard average and punting three times for a 35.3 average with two touchbacks ... Nose tackle Kevin Pirring also had his first career sack on Senior Day ...  LVC led 34:27-25:33 on time of possession, including a massive 12:32-2:28 margin in the fourth quarter ... LVC led 331-281 on offensive yards.
