GLENSIDE, Pa. - A second-half goal by Arcadia's Ashley Knueppel was the difference as the Lebanon Valley College women's soccer team fell, 1-0, in Commonwealth Conference play on Saturday.
LVC (9-6-2, 2-2-1 CC, 8 pts) took a hit in their quest for a playoff berth, falling a point back of Widener for the fourth and final spot, Arcadia (13-3-1, 5-1 CC, 15 pts) clinched their playoff spot with the win and is currently on top of the conference with a game in hand on Messiah.
The Dutchmen stuck with the Knights the entire way, taking a 13-5 first-half shots lead, but Arcadia turned it around in the second, outshooting LVC 12-2.
Sami Young made eight saves for LVC, but Jackie Law was equal on the other end, stopping 13 - 11 in the first - for the clean sheet.
Knueppel broke the deadlock in the 57th minute, redirecting Sarah Volt-Perez's pass past Young.
Sara Drabenstadt led LVC with six shots, and
Nicole Snyder and
Ely Kirkhoff each took two.
LVC will host #1 Messiah in a make-up game on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
