Messiah Holds Off MBB, 65-63

Box Score

ANNVILLE, Pa.
- Messiah's Jamie Yoder sank two go-ahead foul shots with 22 seconds left, and Joe Meehan's three-point prayer at the buzzer was off the mark as Lebanon Valley slumped to its fifth straight loss, 65-63, Wednesday night.

for the fourth game in a row, the Dutchmen (6-9, 2-4 CC) had a chance to win in the final minute and came up short as the Falcons (10-5, 3-3 CC) got back to .500 in league play thanks to hot shooting from the outside.

The game resembled more of a three-point shootout at times as Messiah rained 14 three-pointers to LVC's five; Josh Hartman sank four longballs for all of his 12 points, and Yoder had three on the way to 14.

Joe Meehan's 19 points and Jordan Stewart's 17 off the bench led LVC, but the Dutchmen were hampered by 12-for-20 free throw shooting and some critical late miscues. Dan Dunkelberger just missed a double-double with 10 points and nine boards.

Lebanon Valley had erased an 11-point Messiah lead early in the second half, tying the game on Meehan's layup with 7:58 to go, but the Dutchmen never found a lead despite forging five ties.

The final tie came on Stewart's layup with 1:58 left, knotting the game at 63-63. A Yoder miss was grabbed by Stewart, but Meehan was whistled for the offensive at the other end as he drove to the hoop. Another foul by Meehan two possessions later put Yoder on the line to take the lead.

Meehan missed a game-tying chance with six ticks left, but with a chance to ice the game at the line, Kyle Snyder missed the first of his one-and-one, giving LVC 3.7 seconds to come up with a miracle. The bucket never came as Meehan's off-balance chance from the left wing missed at the buzzer.

LVC heads to Albright Saturday.
