ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley tied program records for goals and margin of victory as it routed Susquehanna, 8-0, in women's soccer play on Saturday at Herbert Field.
The Dutchmen (4-2-1) gave the Kids' Day crowd plenty to smile about, recording their second-straight shutout as they received two goals each from
Nicole Snyder,
Sara Drabenstadt, and
Courtney Catania.
Emily Bainbridge and
Lauren King also added tallies as LVC equaled program records for goal output and margin of victory. The Dutchmen also had an 8-0 win over Morrisville State in 2006, and an 8-2 win over Centenary in 1999.
Bainbridge struck first, converting Snyder's pass in the 17th minute, and King made it 2-0 after she buried a rebound four minutes later.
Catania hit her first goal in the 28th minute when she redirected
Stevi Laird's bid off the crossbar, and Drabenstadt made it 4-0 in the 31st minute.
The Dutchmen weren't done, adding four more goals in the second half. Snyder dribbled in alone to convert in the 55th minute, and Drabenstadt scored her second on the hour off
Christine Fraser's cross. Snyder and Catania then each tacked on their second goals to complete the rout.
Sami Young and
Alyson Reitmeyer split halves in goal, with Reitmeyer making two saves. Alyssa Kemmerer stopped eight in the loss.
LVC took an overwhelming 26 shots to SU's 3, and held the Crusaders (2-3-2) without a corner kick while taking five. The free-flowing game saw just nine fouls.
