ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Rotary Club of Annville has bestowed the Paul Harris Fellow status on Lebanon Valley College swimming coach
Mary Gardner for her years of service to the Annville community.
Gardner was honored by the Rotary Club for her work in teaching thousands of local children to swim. Since 1989, Gardner and her husband, Jim, have run the Otters Program, a popular youth swim program at the LVC Pool and the Annville-Cleona Community Pool. Gardner recently completed her 12th season as the head coach of the LVC men's and women's collegiate teams.
Honored along with Gardner were LVC Chief of Public Safety Al Yingst for his service to the Annville Memorial Day parade; Ann Lasky for her work to start the Quittie Creek Nature Park; and Kathy Moe, who led efforts to rebuild a footbridge over the Quittapahilla Creek.
The award is named after Paul Harris, the co-founder of Rotary International, which was established in 1905 to organize service clubs around the world.
