ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley used a late 8-0 run and some last-second luck to pull out a 76-69 win over Arcadia Wednesday night and stay alive in the Commonwealth Conference playoff race.
The Dutchmen (11-11, 4-6 CC) had led by as much as 12 in the second half before the Knights (8-14, 3-7 CC) erased the margin and took the lead with 5:09 to go.
The win, combined with Elizabethtown's 76-56 rout of Lycoming, put the Dutchmen a game behind E-town for fourth place in the conference, with a chance to catch them with a win on Saturday. The CC's top four teams in the regular season advance to the playoffs.
Kyle Enoch continued his hot streak, draining 25 points on 7-for-10 shooting that included five three-pointers.
Joe Meehan added 16 points and six assists.
The game was an entertaining one from the start, with the Dutchmen coming back on an early Arcadia lead with an 8-0 run midway through the first half to take a four-point lead. The game got physical early, and Arcadia's Glen Gagnon was ejected with 5:20 left in the game after a hard offensive foul and a technical after the play.
LVC answered back with their shooting, though, and an Enoch jumper just before the half built the lead to eight, and LVC ultimately took a 34-27 advantage in the break.
Valley worked quickly to start the second half, taking the lead to 11 on
Dan Dunkelberger's putback before Arcadia caught a 7-0 spurt, capped by Khalief Trawick's three-point play, to cut the lead to four. LVC, however, quickly built the lead back to 12.
Arcadia kept chipping away and finally got a break with a 10-run that included three layups off steals, taking the air out of LVC's sails. But the Dutchmen stormed back with a pair of Dunkelberger foul shots and huge back-to-back three-pointers by Enoch and Meehan to re-establish the lead.
Sean MacIntosh cemented the win with his three-pointer with 20 seconds left to go up five, although Darrell Mills' layup with nine ticks to go made things interesting before Acquil Cook was hit with a foul and a technical, giving Enoch the chance to hit four free throws with 0.2 seconds left to ice the game.
LVC will be back home Saturday to host Elizabethtown.
