Late Lead Slips Away As McDaniel Wins 67-62

Box Score

WESTMINSTER, Md.
- Joe Meehan nearly had a triple-double, but it wasn't enough as LVC allowed a late lead to slip away against McDaniel, 67-62, in non-conference play Tuesday night.

The Dutchmen (5-4, 2-0 Commonwealth) hit a 12-0 run late in the second half to swing a 51-44 Green Terror (5-2, 2-0 Centennial) lead into a 56-51 lead with 4:46 to go, but a three-pointer from Louis Sarris Grau, followed by two free throws on an LVC technical and Miguel Jones' jumper, gave McDaniel the lead back late.

Meehan had an 11-point, eight-rebound, eight-assist stat line, but went 3-for-8 at the line as LVC shot just 12-for-21 from the striple. Zach Kebetz added 14 points, all in the first half, to go with seven boards, and Dan Dunkelberger finished with eight points and nine rebounds.

Four players hit double digits for McDaniel, led by Jones and Michael Jarboe, who each drained 17, including Jarboe's five three-pointers. Sarris-Grau ended up with 13 points.

Lebanon Valley, playing for the time in 10 days, coughed up a five-point lead to start the second half, then erased the seven-point Green Terror advantage late before McDaniel rallied with an 8-0 spurt of their own inside the final two minutes. The Dutchmen did not make a field goal for the final 4:07 of the game.

LVC's rally started when Cameron Prince's layup with 8:38 remaining halted a three-minute scoring drought, and Meehan and Danny Brooks followed up with baskets before Brooks' jumper with 5:46 left gave his side the lead at 52-51.

Another Meehan bucket and a pair of foul shots by Prince extended the lead to five with 4:46 left, but things quickly went south for the Dutchmen. After trading baskets, Sarris-Grau made a foul shot and followed up with a three-pointer to tie the game at 58, and a bench technical led to a pair of free throws by Jarboe to take the lead. Jones' layup with 1:23 to go extended the lead, and LVC would not hit another field goal for the rest of the game.

LVC will break for the holidays before heading to the Big Apple to take on New York City College of Technology and New York University in the NYU Classic Jan. 2-3.
