COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley never got its offense going as it ran up against a hot-shooting Ursinus team and was blown out, 82-56, in non-conference play Sunday.
The Dutchmen (3-3) couldn't replicate the magic of their upset of #6 Franklin & Marshall on Tuesday, shooting just 33.9 percent while the Bears (3-1) drained 58.8 percent of their shots, including 12 three-pointers.
Remy Cousart had a huge game for the Bears as he approached a triple-double with 18 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds; John Ward had 16 points, and Matt Hilton added 14.
Joe Meehan once again lit up the scoreboard for LVC, hitting a game-high 22 points as the only Dutchman in double digits. Lebanon Valley was forced to play without injured starting forward
Grant Becker, and turned to a number of reserves for big minutes as freshman
Danny Brooks got his first career start and guards
Ryan Kinard,
Sean Ruane, and
Cameron Prince combined for 44 minutes off the bench.
Ursinus led from the start when Kevin Janowski canned a three-pointer on the game's first shot, and the Bears lead was seven when Ward slammed a fastbreak dunk three minutes into the game.
With forwards Brooks and
Dan Dunkelberger and guard
Anthony Trautman getting into early foul trouble, LVC had to turn to its bench, but after a spurt with a
Jordan Stewart trey and
Zach Kebetz's jumper cut the lead to eight, Ursinus went on a 9-0 run to take a 17 point lead just 10:48 into the game, and LVC never recovered as the Bears led by 19 at the half.
The game was never closer than that in the second half, and Ursinus pushed the lead as high as 29 in the closing moments.
Ursinus controlled the glass, outrebounding LVC 46-25; the Dutchmen committed just 14 turnovers to Ursinus' 20.
LVC will begin Commonwealth Conference play Wednesday at Lycoming.
