ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The Lebanon Valley College men's swimming team won a down-to-the-wire 99-93 victory over Elizabethtown Tuesday night, while the women fell 112.5-92.5.
The LVC men won only three events, but made up for it with a deep line-up as it won a meet that came down to the final 200-free relay.
Ryan Humphries led off with a win in the 1,000-free in 11:41.68, and
Tony Shipkowski won the 500 free in 5:44.04. Trailing 93-84 with one event to go, E-town did not field a 200-free relay team, and LVC's
Patrick Barry, Nate Heinly, Johnny Schoenberger, and
Miles Mosher won it in 1:45.95 to secure the meet win.
On the women's side, LVC won four events.
Kristen Zartman took the 200 free in 2:09.90, and
Ally Birli won the 100 fly in 1:07.16.
Lisa Niethamer picked up a victory in the 100 breaststroke in 1:16.31, winning by a half-second, and the 200 free relay of
Mary Gardner,
Charlie Robinson,
Kelsey Sherman, and Niethamer won in 1:49.95, just 0.23 ahead of the top E-town relay.
