ANNVILLE, Pa. - For most of the day, the Lebanon Valley College women's soccer team hung in with an undefeated Arcadia team. However, when facing a team on as big of a roll as the Knights are, you need to limit mistakes. Unfortunately for the Dutchmen, a pair of errors came back to haunt them as Arcadia took the Commonwealth Conference opener for both teams, 2-0.
After a scoreless first half, Arcadia got on the board first with a Stephanie Edson goal in the 59th minute. LVC failed to clear on three-straight corners from Arcadia, allowing multiple chances for the Knights. On the third corner, Katie O'Malley's entry pass found the head of Edson, who re-directed the cross past Sami Young for a 1-0 Knights' lead.
Just under 10 minutes later, in the 68th minute, O'Malley worked her way around a pair of Dutchmen defenders to send a cross from left deep left side towards the box. A sliding LVC defender deflected the cross into her own net for Arcadia's second goal.
Emily Bainbridge, Stevi Laird, Nicole Snyder and Ely Kirkhoff each had a shot on goal for LVC, but Jacki Law turned them all away for Arcadia.
