READING, Pa. - Lebanon Valley College began the 2009-10 swimming season Tuesday night, with both the men and women competing at Albright College.
Both teams suffered overall losses, with the men falling 104-74, and the women 106-87.
John Heenan won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:04.84, and Ally Bilri captured the 100-fly in 1:08.68 for the only LVC individual event wins of the night; the women's 200-free relay of
Lisa Niethamer,
Charlie Robinson, Kristine Roaten, and Birli touched the wall first in 55.71, with the 'B' relay of
Mary Gardner, Alex Hockley,
Kristen Zartman, and
Heidi Metzler second in 56.42.
In a tight finish, the women's 200-medley relay of Niethamer,
Ashten O'Brien, Birli, and
Kelsey Sherman was just barely out-touched by Albright's relay, swimming a 2:03.81 to take second by less than seven-tenths of a second.
Johnny Schoenberger grabbed second in the 200-free in 1:58.12, and also was runner-up in the 100-free in 54.10.
Tony Shipkowski and
Ryan Humphries finished 2-3 in the 100-fly in 1:01.07 and 1:03.30, respectively. Humphries was also second in the 500-free in 5:43.32.
Niethamer and Robinson were also 2-3 in the 100-free, in 1:00.24 and 1:00.90. Hockley was second in the women's 100-back in 1:10.84, and Zartman was second in the 500-free in 5:57.26.
Heidi Metzler turned in a 1:19.24 to place second in the 100-breaststroke.
