Box Score
CHESTER, Pa. - Lebanon Valley spotted Widener a three-goal lead less than 20 minutes into the game on Saturday, and the margin proved to be too much to overcome as the Dutchmen lost to the Pride, 3-1.
Caryinna Yenchak scored in the second minute for Widener, sending home a pass from Sam Baer just inside the top of the box for her eighth goal of the year.
In the ninth minute, Sarah Shaffer scored an unassisted goal from 25 yards out to widen the lead to 2-0. She added her second goal of the game - and the year - 19:35 into the game converting on a cross from Brittany Balentine.
In the second half, Nicole Snyder got LVC on the board with her seventh goal of the season. She took a pass from Emily Bainbridge and sent a shot past Vanessa Hejnas to break the shutout. LVC managed just one more shot the rest of the period and the 3-1 score stood at the final horn.
The Dutchmen are now 6-11-1 overall in 2009 and 1-5 in the Commonwealth Conference. They play Lycoming at home Oct. 31 at noon on Senior Day.
