#7 LVC Races Past Shenandoah, 8-2

Box Score

ANNVILLE, Pa. - #7 Lebanon Valley scored three quick goals to open the game and never looked back, trouncing Shenandoah 8-2 in Commonwealth Conference play Saturday.

The Dutchmen (12-1, 3-0 CC) won their 11th straight game while the Hornets (7-4, 1-2 CC) had a four-game win streak snapped.

Jocelyn Novak had a first-half hat trick to lead LVC, while Nikki Bomberger and Kristin Clift each added a goal and an assist.

Novak started a rally that saw LVC score three goals in 35 seconds, taking Cait Eckenrode's left-side cross at 5:18 before Allison Bicher converted from Caitlin Vasey at 5:38. Novak and Jenni Walker hooked up for a quick goal off the restat just 15 seconds later.

Bomberger made it 4-0 with a huge hit from the arc after Walker's penalty corner injection, and Marisa Maxwell added her first goal of the season at 30:05 when Bomberger slotted a pass in from the arc. Novak completed the hat trick, the eighth of her young career, by tipping in Rachel Pantalone's shot just before the half to give LVC a 6-0 lead.

With reserves in to play the second half, SU spoiled the shutout with Sarah DeLuca's lift at 50:31, but Jess Cox and Clift added goals three minutes apart to go up 8-1. DeLuca added a late consolation goal.

LVC held a 28-8 shots advantage, including 22-2 in the first half, and led 16-6 in corners. Caitlin Baro made two saves in a half of play to earn the win; Christine Poletti stopped two and Kelly Flynn made a save in relief. Danielle Lawson stopped 11 for Shenandoah.

The Dutchmen will visit William Smith next Saturday.
