RADNOR, Pa. - Lebanon Valley rode outstanding shooting and three 20-point performances from
Dan Hodge,
Kyle Enoch, and
Dan Dunkelberger as it beat Cabrini, 101-92, in a non-conference shootout Saturday.
The Dutchmen (4-2) handed the Cavaliers (5-1) their first loss of the season, draining 37 foul shots in the process as they crossed the century mark in scoring for the second consecutive game. It was the first time in over a decade that LVC has scored 100 or more in consecutive games; it last did it in 1997, scoring 100 vs. Gettysburg and 110 against Salisbury in the Rinso Marquette Tournament.
LVC was virtually automatic at the line, shooting a torrid 86 percent on 37-of-43 shooting to continue their recent hot streak. The Dutchmen shot 57.1 percent overall from the floor.
Hodge and Enoch each dropped 24 points, while Dunkelberger had a double-double of 22 points and 12 boards while going 12-for-13 at the line.
Sean MacIntosh hit three second-half three-pointers on the way to 12 points.
Glenn Washington led Cabrini with 26 points.
Buoyed by 17 first-half points from Hodge and 15 from Enoch, LVC managed to work a 47-36 halftime lead after jumping ahead early. The Dutchmen sank just about everything in the early going, making 12 of 17 shots over first 10 minutes, including four three-pointers, as they opened up the double-digit lead.
Cabrini cut into the lead to start the second half, making it 61-53 Valley on Lamar Fisher's bucket six minutes in, but the Dutchmen tried to shut the door over the next five minutes, using a pair of threes from MacIntosh to take a 73-59 lead.
The Cavaliers hung around, however, going on a 10-2 run to make LVC's 16-point lead eight at 84-76 with five minutes left. Back up 10, LVC was in trouble with an expiring shot clock, but Enoch took a desperation three that fell. Cabrini answered with Corey White's long deuce, and Charles Bush's layup cut the lead back to 10 with 2:22 to go.
LVC killed some clock, but at the other end, White hit a pair of free throws, then stole the inbounds and went for an easy layup to key a four-point swing and cut the LVC lead to six with just over a minute remaining.
Enoch then hit two foul shots, and a
Dustin Kerns steal made Cabrini intentionally foul with 52 seconds left. Kerns made both tries to all but ice the game, and Dunkelberger put the exclamation on the win with a breakway jam from
Joe Meehan in the closing seconds.
LVC will take off for finals before hosting Alvernia University Dec. 17 at 7 p.m.
