Box Score
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lebanon Valley shot 47.9 percent from the floor and got 21 points from senior
Dan Hodge, but fell to Moravian College 68-63 in the season opener for both squads on Sunday.
The Dutchmen (0-1) were doomed by a dismal day at the free-throw line, shooting just 13-of-23. The Greyhounds (1-0) connected on 10 three-pointers, including a 4-for-4 day by Eric Weaver en route to 24 points.
Hodge had a fantastic game, draining 21 points and grabbing seven rebounds for the Dutchmen. Senior
Kyle Enoch added 13 points and four boards, and freshman
Sean MacIntosh, starting in his career debut, scored 11.
After Hodge canned a trey to start the game, LVC never led again as Moravian made its first five buckets and started 4-for-4 from beyond the arc. The Greyhounds ballooned their lead to as much as 14 just before the half.
LVC cut the lead the seven with a 5-0 spurt to start the second half, then got within five on Enoch's jumper midway through the half. Moravian again pulled away, but the Dutchmen chipped away and got back within five on Hodge's layup with just over a minute left.
Enoch then blocked Dave Bowden's layup attempt, and Macintosh came back the other way and made his own shot while drawing a foul with 31 seconds left. However, Macintosh couldn't convert the three-point play, and Moravian grabbed the rebound and was able to hold on through LVC fouling to win.
LVC will have its home opener Friday night, hosting Penn State Altoona in the Rinso Marquette Tournament at 8 p.m. That game will be preceded by New Jersey City University and Hood College at 6 p.m.
