ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley College opened its swimming season Saturday with a pair of wins as both the men and women defeated King's College.
The men were 116-89 winners, and women won 115-89. In the wins, LVC qualified seven swimmers for 13 MAC championship events.
Kevin Carney led the men with wins in the 800 free (9:45.78), 200 IM (2:25.91), and 400 free (4:36.84), all MAC times. He also qualified in the 400 IM, swam as an exhibition event, in 5:24.59.
John Schoenberger won the 200 free in 2:11.16 and the 100 back in 1:12.11, and Jeff Bush touched the wall first in the 50 free (26.53) and 100 free (59.62). Tony Shipkowski led the way in the 100 fly with a 1:08.71 clocking.
For the women, Ally Birli won two events, taking the 200 free in 2:24.30 and the 100 butterfly in 1:16.07.
Lisa Niethamer also won two, taking the 50 free in 29.86 and the 100 breaststoke in 1:26.33. Ashten O'Brien was first in the 200 IM in 2:49.47. Christina Schreiner won the 100 free in 1:10.48.
LVC is back in action Wednesday night when it hosts Albright College.
