ANNVILLE, Pa. - Freshman Ally Birli broke two school records as Lebanon Valley College raced to a pair of wins over Arcadia University Tuesday night.
The men's team (6-4) came away a 97-72 victor while the women (3-8) cruised 108-77.
Birli highlighted the meet for the women's team, breaking a 16 year-old school record in the 400-meter freestyle by two seconds in a time of 5:09.60. Birli also reset her own record in 200 free at 2:22.93, blowing away the field in the process and winning the event by more than 35 seconds.
The Dutchmen overall turned in eight MAC-qualifying marks, including Birli's 400 free time. Amy Miceli qualified in the 200 IM (2:50.24) and 100 breaststroke (1:27.67) and Allison Sweigart (1:06.92) made it in the 100 free. Jared Wilkerson qualified in the 50 (27.06) and 100 free (59.72) events, while Greg Kauffman met the mark in the 200 free (2:13.22) and Tony Shipkowski was fast enough in the 200 IM (2:34.23).
The Dutchmen will continue a busy week Friday, heading to MAC rival Widener University for a 6 p.m. meet.
