Men's and Women's Swimming Edged by Albright

READING, Pa. - The Lebanon Valley College swimming teams swan 11 MAC qualifying times Wednesday night, but were beaten by Albright College in both meets.

The men's team fell 102-72, while the women were edged 93-88.

Freshman Ally Birli reset her week-old school record in the 100 butterfly, winning the event in 1:03.98.

Freshman Ashten O'Brien won the 100 free, touching the wall in 1:00.90, a qualifying time. Sophomore Lisa Niethamer also won the 100 breaststroke in a qualifying time of 1:14.27. Other winners for the women included sophomore Julie Enders, who won the 100 backstroke in 1:16.28, and the 200 free relays of Birli, Enders, Niethamer, and Laurel Klappholz, which swam a 1:55.39.

On the men's side, Jared Wilkerson highlighted the meet with his 1:17.46 win in the 100 breaststroke, and Tony Shipkowski also won the 500 free in 5:51.42. The 200 free relay team of J.T. Grob, Jeffrey Bush, Miles Mosher, and Johnny Schoenberger also won in 1:37.16.

The men turned in several MAC qualifying times, including Bush's 24.21 and Schoenberger's 24.43 in the 50 free, Kevin Carney's 2:12.38 in the 200 IM, and Shipkowski's 1:01.71 in the 100 fly. Shoenberger also swam a 52.42 in the 100 free to qualify in that event.

LVC will open up at home on Saturday, hosting Ursinus at 1 p.m.
