Field Hockey Stops DeSales, 4-2

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Senior Mimi Sullivan and sophomore Danielle Blase each scored twice as the No. 6 Lebanon Valley College field hockey team topped DeSales University, 4-2, Saturday.

The Flying Dutchmen pushed their perfect record to 8-0. The Bulldogs fell to 3-7 overall. The win was Head Coach Lauren Martin's 99th at Lebanon Valley.

Lebanon Valley once again turned on the offense, taking 22 shots to DeSales' seven. The Dutchmen ran out to a 2-0 lead at the half.

Blase opened the scoring in the 13th minute, redirecting a corner feed from senior Shauna Enck. Sullivan tallied again in the 32nd minute when she picked up a loose ball in the box and buried it.

Blase opened the second half with her second after she collected her own rebound and put it in the back of the cage.

DeSales' Jamie Matthews got a goal back, scoring off Amy Pulcini's centering pass on the hour.

But Sullivan removed any doubt as she buried LVC's fourth goal five minutes later. Pulcini added a late consolation goal for DeSales.

Sophomore Caitlin Baro was relatively untested, making just one save. Molly Pope stopped six for the Bulldogs.

LVC held a 7-1 lead in penalty corners.

The Dutchmen will visit the University of Scranton on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
