Wolfe Nets Hat Trick as Field Hockey Tops DeSales

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Sophomore Alex Wolfe posted her first career hat trick, scoring three goals to lead No. 11 Lebanon Valley to a 9-2 win over DeSales University in non-conference field hockey action Saturday afternoon during Homecoming at the LVC Field Hockey Stadium.

Lebanon Valley (7-1), which won its third match in a row, never trailed after Wolfe scored 9:20 into the contest. She added a pair of goals 10 minutes apart midway through the second half to give the Flying Dutchwomen an 8-1 lead.

Senior Steph Marguglio added two goals and an assist. Senior Claire Behney and freshman Julie Enders notched one goal and one assist apiece while junior Mimi Sullivan handed out a pair of assists.

Senior Katie Pawlewicz started in goal for LVC and saved four shots while playing the opening half. She gave way to freshman Caitlin Baro, who recorded eight saves over the final 35 minutes in her collegiate debut.

Amanda Deal scored a pair of goals to lead DeSales (6-4) while Molly Pope posted six saves for the Bulldogs.

Wolfe's first goal was the start of a 4-0 LVC run to start the game, as Marguglio, junior Shauna Enck, and Behney all found the back of the cage over the opening 24:58. After Deal put the Bulldogs on the scoreboard, Marguglio converted her second goal of the game and team-leading ninth tally of the season with 1:53 left in the opening half to give the Valley a 5-1 lead at the break.

In the second half, the Dutchwomen picked up right where they left off, scoring four straight goals. Sophomore Sarah Bevans scored her first goal of the season prior to Wolfe's second and third tallies. Enders capped the Valley's scoring with her first collegiate goal.

Lebanon Valley returns to action on Tuesday, when it hosts No. 14 Juniata College at 4 p.m. in a Commownealth Conference clash.
