GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Jack Bowman scored his first two career goals for the Lebanon Valley College men's soccer team, fueling the program's exciting 2-1 comeback victory over Gettysburg College on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Clark Field.
The Bullets (4-2-0) opened the scoring 3:40 into the first half, taking a 1-0 lead on a goal by Tae Won Lillig. The programs proceeded to go back and forth defensively for nearly 11 minutes, as neither squad took a shot during this stretch. The Dutchmen (3-1-1) then generated an offensive opportunity, as
Will Burton put a shot on goal that was saved at the 14:32 mark. Gettysburg countered with an attempt on target at the 15:02 mark, but LVC answered with a save by goalkeeper
Isaac Yerger.
The Flying Dutchmen continued to send shots toward the net as the first stanza progressed, as Burton had an attempt go to the right of the net at the 19:58 mark and
Owen Hunt had a try go to the left of the net at the 24:04 mark.
Gavin Rapp also put a shot on target for LVC at the 25:48 mark, which was saved. The teams followed this by battling for over 14 minutes, as neither side put a shot on goal during this stretch. The Bullets logged a shot on goal at the 40:19 mark, and Yerger responded with a save for Lebanon Valley. Gettysburg took its one-goal advantage into halftime.
The Dutchmen kept working to create scoring chances when the second half got underway, as Burton took a shot that was saved at the 47:35 mark and
Logan Hicks had a try saved at the 48:10 mark. The programs then competed defensively for over 14 minutes. The Bullets later put attempts on target at the 62:58 and 66:23 marks, but goalkeeper
Ryan Simonette came through with a pair of saves for Lebanon Valley.
The Flying Dutchmen got on the board at the 68:44 mark, tying the game at 1-1. Bowman took a shot from 30 yards out that ended up in the left corner of the net for a clutch goal. Lebanon Valley generated another offensive opportunity at the 72:48 mark, as
Brayden Burkhardt sent a shot over the upper-left corner of the net.
Dom Beddia also registered an attempt for LVC at the 81:53 mark, which went over the upper-right corner of the net.
Lebanon Valley scored again 85:21 into the game, claiming a 2-1 lead over Gettysburg. Bowman took a shot from behind the penalty arc, which deflected off the goalie's hand as the ball sailed into the upper-left corner of the net for the sophomore's second goal of the night.
Michael Enyeama was credited with an assist on the go-ahead goal. The Bullets countered with a shot at the 85:49 mark, which went to the left of the net. Ultimately, the Dutchmen maintained their lead through the rest of the contest to seal the win.
