The Dutchmen (2-1-1) quickly opened the scoring 2:32 into the first half, taking an early 1-0 lead over the Highlanders (2-1-2). Bowman delivered a cross from the right side of the field to Gavin Rapp at the back of the goal box, who sent a header shot into the left side of the net for a goal. Cairn then scored on an own goal at the 6:17 mark and a goal by Alijah Miller at the 7:42 mark, taking a 2-1 advantage.

The programs proceeded to go back and forth over the next 13:15, in which LVC outshot the Highlanders 3-2. During this stretch, Will Burton and Rapp each put a shot on goal for the Flying Dutchmen that was saved. Goalkeeper Isaac Yerger also delivered a pair of saves for Lebanon Valley during this span. The Dutchmen proceeded to outshoot the opposition 4-0 during the remainder of the first stanza, including attempts on target by Burton and Jonathan Cordon-Pinto. Cairn went on to take its 2-1 lead into halftime.

The Highlanders scored again 3:09 into the second half, going ahead 3-1 on a goal by Elijah Ejiofor. The teams followed this by continuing to compete defensively and trade shots for over 17 minutes. Lebanon Valley then found the net at the 66:01 mark, narrowing its deficit to 3-2. Burkhardt delivered a cross from the right side of the penalty box to Hunt at the back of the goal box, who sent a header shot into the lower-left corner of the net for a goal. The Dutchmen then tied things up at 3-3 at the 71:27 mark. Eli Yerger took a shot from the goal box and sent the ball into the lower-right side of the net for a goal, courtesy of an assist by Boachie.

The Highlanders were then charged with a red card at the 72:26 mark, prompting the team to finish the match with just 10 players on the field. The Dutchmen followed this by generating several offensive opportunities during the rest of the game, outshooting Cairn 6-1. During this stretch, Boachie put two shots on goal that were saved while Tyler Wescott, Burkhardt, and Rapp each had an attempt saved. Rapp's shot was saved with just two seconds left on the clock.
