Women's Volleyball Defeats Wilson, 3-1 Behind Balanced Attack

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College women's volleyball team used a balanced attack to earn a 3-1 road victory over Wilson College on Thursday evening at the Gannett Field House in Chambersburg.
 
The first set was a battle early on as Wilson took a 6-4 lead. The Dutchmen took control of the set with the next 10 points finishing on back-to-back points by Brooke Olejniczak. LVC continued to pull away in the set using a five-point string to push the advantage to 20-8. Wilson started to claw their way back, but the Dutchmen were able to close out the set for a 25-15 win.
 
The Dutchmen started the second set strong with the first three points before Wilson rallied to take a 5-4 lead. Hadley Sparks started a 6-0 run that gave LVC the lead back. The Phoenix cut into the deficit and got within one point at 12-11. The Dutchmen countered with a decisive 10-7 run to go up 22-18. Wilson was able to get within two points before Riley Mack ended the set at 25-21.
 
LVC took control of the third set, scoring five of the first seven points. Wilson cut the lead to 9-7 and then used a 9-0 run to go up 16-9. They extended the advantage to 20-11 with a four-point surge. The Dutchmen battled back valiantly, but Wilson closed out the set 25-16. The Phoenix continued the momentum into the fourth set, scoring the first six points. The Dutchmen slowly chipped into the lead. They used a four-point swing to get within two at 12-10. It was still a two-point set at 19-17 when Wilson scored three consecutive points. LVC closed out strong, winning eight of the next nine points to take the set 25-23 and win the match.

  • Riley Mack recorded a team-high 10 kills, added a service ace, and two block assists
  • Teaguen Reynolds posted eight kills while adding an ace and three block assists.
  • Olejniczak was extremely efficient with seven kills on 11 attacks for a match-best .636 hitting percentage.
  • Ellie Baldrige recorded seven kills and two block assists.
  • Sparks added six kills and a block assist.
  • Jasmine Sullivan directed the offense with a team-high 19 assists. Sofia Rios contributed 15 assists, two kills, and two digs.
  • Kylie Nagle led the back row with a team-high 12 digs and chipped in two service aces.
  • Molly Thomas finished with 10 digs and matched the team lead with two aces.
  • Lebanon Valley dominated the net with a 13-2 advantage in total blocks (1 solo, 12 assisted).
Up Next
Lebanon Valley returns to action on Saturday for a pair of non-conference matches against Cairn University and Haverford College. The Dutchmen will take on Cairn at 1 p.m. and then will face host Haverford in the final match of the tri-match in Haverford.
