HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College women's volleyball team earned a split in Saturday's tri-match action at Haverford College, opening the day with a 3-0 sweep of Cairn University before dropping a 3-0 decision to the host Fords.
The Flying Dutchmen started the afternoon in strong fashion, defeating Cairn by set scores of 25-22, 25-18, and 25-15. Lebanon Valley controlled the match from start to finish, securing its fourth victory of the season with the straight-set win. Later in the day, LVC faced host Haverford in its second match. The Dutchmen battled throughout the contest but were unable to overcome the Fords, falling in three sets by scores of 25-21, 25-16, and 25-14.
Match One vs. Cairn
The Highlanders won the first two points of the day coming off their match against Haverford. LVC responded with the next six points with
Riley Mack serving. Cairn slowly cut into the deficit and then used a string of four straight points to take a 12-10 advantage.
Teaguen Reynolds tied the set with a pair of kills and a block. The teams traded points until Cairn used a 4-0 run to take a 20-16 lead. LVC came out of a timeout and finished the set strong behind Reynolds, Mack, and
Jillian Jefferys, scoring eight of the final nine points.
The beginning of the second set was a battle with Cairn going up 5-2 early. The Dutchmen scored the next four points to take the lead before the Highlanders answered with three points. LVC took control of the set with a 7-0 run that put them ahead 14-9. Cairn slowly started to chip away at the lead getting within one at 17-16 before the Dutchmen used another strong finish to put the set away 25-17.
Libby Lindau fueled the surge with the final two points of the set.
LVC exploded out to a 6-3 advantage in the third set using defense at the net with a pair of blocks by Reynolds and Jefferys. They continued to expand the lead as the set went on and Cairn took a timeout down 15-7. They came out of the break with a small run to cut into the deficit. The Dutchmen countered with another strong finish to a set and ended the match on a
Kylie Nagle service ace.
Inside the Box
- Reynolds was dominant offensively, recording seven kills on 11 attacks with no errors, while adding two service aces and three block assists.
- Jefferys led the Dutchmen attack with nine kills and a strong .450 hitting percentage, while also contributing four block assists.
- Jasmine Sullivan orchestrated the offense with a match-high 18 assists and added four digs.
- Sofia Rios provided balance across the stat sheet with 11 assists, two kills on three attacks, and a block assist.
- Mack contributed eight kills, nine digs, and two service aces.
- Casey Levan sparked the Dutchmen from the service line with a team-high three aces and six digs.
- Nagle anchored the back row with nine digs, while also adding two service aces.
Match Two vs. Haverford
The Dutchmen and Fords battled closely throughout the first set with neither team gaining more than a two-point advantage through the first 20 points. The set was tied at 10 when LVC used a 5-1 run to go up by four after a service ace from Levan. Haverford scored the next three points and was able to tie the set up at 17. The Dutchmen scored the next two points and the Fords responded with four points in a row. LVC called timeout and came out of the break with points by Mack and Jefferys to even the score. The Fords answered with the next four points to take the opening set.
Haverford used the momentum to take an early 6-2 advantage in the second set. They increased the lead to 9-4 before three consecutive points by the Dutchmen cut the deficit down to two. It was still a two-point set at 12-10 when Haverford used a 6-0 run to extend the lead. The Dutchmen batted valiantly to keep the set close, but the Fords were able to close it out strong and take the second set 25-16. The Fords jumped out to a big 8-3 advantage in the third set. The Dutchmen battled back and cut the lead to 9-7 with a 4-1 run. They were able to keep the deficit at three points until the Fords used a decisive 8-1 run to go up 20-10. The Fords continued the run into the end of the set, winning 25-14.
Inside the Box
- Mack led the Flying Dutchmen offensively with a match-high nine kills, while adding six digs and a block assist.
- Hadley Sparks provided an efficient attack, totaling six kills on 17 attempts with just one error.
- Sullivan added a team-best 11 assists and also contributed four digs.
- Rios added nine assists, chipped in one kill, and was involved in two blocks (one solo, one assist).
- Thomas paced the back row with a team-high eight digs.
- Nagle contributed six digs and a block assist on the defensive end.
- Lindau recorded three kills and was a factor at the net with one solo block and one block assist.
- Brooke Olejniczak provided a spark off the bench with two kills and a service ace.

The Dutchmen will be back in action on Wednesday, September 16, as they travel back to the Philadelphia area to take on Immaculata University at 6 p.m.
