Men’s Tennis Wins Thriller with Arcadia in MAC Freedom Semifinal

HERSHEY, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's tennis team advanced to a fifth consecutive conference championship match with a thrilling 4-1 victory over third-seeded Arcadia University on Wednesday afternoon at the Hershey Racquet Club in Hershey.
 
The second-seeded Dutchmen (12-10) rallied to earn the doubles point with victories at number two and number three after being down early on all three courts. The number one doubles match went unfinished once LVC clinched the point. The Dutchmen won the first two singles matches at numbers five and six to get within one win of winning the match. Arcadia (9-7) won at number one singles to close the gap to 3-1 as courts two, three, and four went into third sets. Jesse Beck gave the Dutchmen the point they needed with a win at number two as he rallied to win the third set 6-4 after being down 4-1.
 
Inside the Box
  • Adam Warren and Ethan Luu were the first doubles court done at number three as they won 6-2. The duo improved to 7-2 as playing partners this season.
  • Mason Dissinger and Jake Erb clinched the doubles point at number two with a 6-4 victory. They improved to 4-1 on the season.
  • Beck and Schrader were tied at 4-4 in their match at number one when the point was clinched.
  • Dissinger was the first singles court to finish at number five as he cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 win. The first-year improved to 10-8 and an impressive 8-3 at number five singles.
  • Colin Brusse also won his 10th dual match of the year with a 6-4, 6-0 victory at number six. He is 7-2 in the last 10 matches.
  • Schrader battled tough at number one singles, dropping a 6-4, 6-3 decision.
  • Beck sent the Dutchmen to the final with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 win at number two. The junior won his second three-set match of the season after a big rally in the third set.
  • Erb was leading in the third set of his match at number three singles. The senior won the first set 6-4, dropped the second set 4-6, and then was up in the third set 3-2.
  • Warren won the first set 6-2 at number four. He lost the second set 7-6 in a 7-4 tiebreaker. His opponent was leading 3-2 in the third set at the time the match ended.
Up Next
LVC will head to New Jersey for a rematch with top-seeded Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday for the Championship. The Ducks defeated fourth-seeded Misericordia 4-0 in the other semifinal match. A time and location for Saturday's match have not been set yet.
