DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Tyler Satterfield and
Lucien Burger each drove in two runs for the Lebanon Valley College baseball team, as the program dropped a 16-6 decision to Delaware Valley University on Friday, April 10, at Frank Wolfgang Field.
Daniel Palmieri and
Spencer Butz both tallied an RBI for LVC as well.
The Dutchmen (11-17, 6-7 MAC Freedom) generated some traffic on the bases in the top of the first inning, as
Kody Phillips hit a two-out double to left field and advanced to third base on a wild pitch. The Aggies (13-16, 4-9 MAC Freedom) then opened the scoring in the bottom of the first, taking a 1-0 lead on an RBI groundout. Lebanon Valley answered back in the top of the second, tying the game at 1-1.
John Teehan got things started with a two-out single to second base, before getting into scoring position by stealing second. Satterfield then came through with an RBI single to left-center field, driving in Teehan. Delaware Valley followed this with four runs in the bottom of the second, taking a 5-1 advantage during a frame that included two RBI singles and an RBI fielder's choice.
Nate Savage then pitched a scoreless bottom of the third inning for the Flying Dutchmen, getting out of the frame with a strikeout and two flyouts to right fielder
Kenny Palmieri to strand runners at first and second base. Lebanon Valley added two runs in the top of the fourth, narrowing its deficit to 5-3. Butz led off with a single to shortstop before stealing second base and advancing to third on a balk. Burger then drove an RBI double to center field, knocking in Butz. Burger followed this by stealing third base, and the sophomore later scored on Satterfield's RBI single to right field. In the bottom of the fourth, Savage tossed a 1-2-3 frame for LVC with a flyout to left fielder

The Dutchmen crossed the plate three times in the top of the fifth inning, taking a 6-5 lead. Berry led off with a single to left-center field and scored when
Daniel Palmieri hit an RBI triple to center field. The program later tied the contest on Butz's RBI double to center field, knocking in
Daniel Palmieri. Burger then delivered a go-ahead RBI single up the middle, bringing home Butz. The Aggies responded with two runs in the bottom of the fifth, going up 7-6 on an RBI single and an RBI fielder's choice.
Lebanon Valley kept competing in the batter's box in the top of the sixth, as Berry hit a one-out single to left field. Delaware Valley then tacked on a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth, taking a 9-6 lead on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly. The Dutchmen continued to battle at the plate in the top of the seventh inning as well, loading the bases after Phillips hit a double to right-center field, Burger reached base on an error by the shortstop, and
Kenny Palmieri was hit by a pitch. In the bottom of the seventh, the Aggies went up 16-6 on a bases-loaded walk, a two-run single, an RBI groundout, and a three-run home run.
LVC created more traffic on the basepaths in the top of the eighth, as Berry drove a double to center field and stole third base.
Cole Kingsbury then pitched a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning for the Flying Dutchmen, registering two strikeouts in the process. Ultimately, the score was maintained through the end of the game.
