HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Lebanon Valley men's tennis team finished off a successful week in Hilton Head, South Carolina, with a split of two matches on Wednesday. The Dutchmen dropped a 5-2 decision to Roanoke College in the morning before ending the week with a 7-0 victory over Waynesburg University under the lights.
The Dutchmen (6-6) started the day bright and early at the Hilton Head Middle School against the Maroons (3-4). Roanoke won all three doubles matches and then took the first four singles matches. LVC earned wins at numbers five and six for its two points. The Dutchmen then took on Waynesburg (0-3) under the lights of the Chaplin Tennis Center in their final match of the trip. Lebanon Valley won the first two doubles matches to earn the doubles point and then swept all six singles matches in straight sets.
Inside the Boxes
- Jesse Beck and Zach Schrader played tough in their number doubles match against Roanoke, dropping a 6-4 decision. Ethan Luu and Jared Hostetter also fell 6-4 at number three in a close match.
- Mason Dissinger won his number five singles match by a score of 7-5, 6-3. He is now 6-4 on the season in singles play.
- Colin Brusse defeated Roanoke 6-4, 6-2 at number six singles for his fourth dual win of the season.
- Vincent Thompson went 2-0 against the Yellow Jackets. He teamed with Schrader at number one doubles for a 6-0 victory and then wrapped up the evening with a 6-4, 6-1 win at number six singles. The sophomore won all three of his matches in Hilton Head and is 2-1 in singles play this year.
- Hostetter and Zachary Elmore teamed up for a 6-2 victory at number three doubles for the Dutchmen. Hostetter then won his number two singles match 6-1, 6-4, while Elmore was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at number four. Hostetter finished the week with a 4-1 record in five total matches. Elmore won all four of his matches this week and is 5-1 on the season.
- Jake Erb played his first match at number one singles and earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory.
- Luu clinched the match victory with a 6-1, 6-3 win at number three singles.
- Brayden Waiter was the first singles match to finish against Waynesburg with a double bagel 6-0, 6-0 victory at number five. Waiter won both of his singles matches this week and dropped just two games.
- LVC went 3-2 in its five matches this week.

The Dutchmen will return to Annville, where they will play their first home dual match of the spring next Wednesday, March 11, as the team welcomes Drew University to the Shankroff Tennis Center. First serves against the Rangers are scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
