ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley men's tennis sophomore
Zach Schrader had a pair of singles wins to lead the Dutchmen to a split of two matches in the team's spring home openers on Saturday at the Shankroff Tennis Center in Annville. LVC defeated Eastern University 6-1 in the morning and then dropped a hard-fought 6-1 decision to Ursinus College in the afternoon.
The Dutchmen (7-7) began the day by defeating Eastern by winning eight of the nine matches. LVC swept through doubles play and then took five of the six singles matches against its former conference opponent. In the nightcap, the Dutchmen battled against the Bears in a spirited contest. Ursinus won two of the three doubles matches and five of the six singles matches. LVC's wins came at number one doubles and number one singles.
Inside the Boxes
- Schrader won both of his matches at number one singles. The sophomore started the day with a 6-4, 6-0 victory against the Eagles. He then had a three-set thriller against the Bears, winning 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-5). Schrader won his fifth singles match of the year with the victory against Ursinus.
- Jake Erb and Adam Warren teamed for a 6-4 victory at number one doubles against the Bears.
- Warren went 3-1 on the day as he won both his matches against Eastern. He earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory at number two singles and had a 7-5 victory with Mason Dissinger at number one doubles.
- Jared Hostetter won both of his matches against Eastern. He teamed with Colin Brusse for a 6-1 victory at number two doubles and had a 6-2, 6-1 victory at number three singles.
- Zachary Elmore won 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 at number four singles, while Brayden Waiter had a 6-2, 6-3 victory at number five singles against the Eagles. Both are 3-0 this season in singles play.
- The Dutchmen swept the doubles matches in the morning, with Erb and Grant Rowe recording a 6-1 win at number three doubles.

The Dutchmen will be back at the Shankroff Tennis Center on Wednesday as they face Albright College. First serves are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. against the Lions.
