Dutchmen Women’s Ice Hockey Sweeps Season Series Against King’s

PITTSTON, Pa. ­­– The Lebanon Valley College women's ice hockey team completed a sweep of the season series against King's College, posting a 5-0 victory behind a strong team effort on Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Revolution Ice Centre. The win secured LVC's spot in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championship. 

The Flying Dutchmen (15-6-0, 12-5-0 MAC) received contributions from several student-athletes during the win, as seven players tallied at least one point. Anna Dale led the program with a game-high four points by matching game-highs with two goals and two assists. Addison Taylert also found the net twice for LVC, while Sky Campanile scored a goal. Defensively, goaltender Savannah Alexander delivered 12 saves during a shutout performance. 

The Dutchmen and the Monarchs (1-21-0, 1-17-0 MAC) traded offensive opportunities early in the game, as each team had two shots on goal saved during the first 2:07. Lebanon Valley then opened the scoring 3:07 into the first, taking a 1-0 lead. The program struck first when Dale sent the puck into the back of the net for a goal, courtesy of an assist by Camryn Crouch. King's countered with a shot on target at the 4:10 mark, which resulted in Alexander making a save for LVC. 

The Flying Dutchmen remained aggressive offensively during the rest of the first period, putting 11 more shots on goal during the final 15:50. The program logged six of these attempts during two power plays, including when Brysha Schmidt and Leela Nemani each had a try saved within five seconds during a 5-on-4 advantage that started in the 14th minute. Lebanon Valley also began a power play in the 16th minute, which led to Lauren Pennino tallying two shots that were saved, while Taylert and McKayla Romano each had a try saved. Defensively, the Dutchmen held the opposition to two shot attempts that were blocked by Nemani and Amy McKeigue after the fifth minute of the frame. 

The Monarchs started a power play 12 seconds into the second period, and the Dutchmen answered with three stops by Alexander during a successful penalty kill. Lebanon Valley's offense also continued to send shots toward the net, registering 16 attempts on target that were saved in the 9:44 after the conclusion of the power play. During this stretch, the Flying Dutchmen started a power play in the seventh minute, which led to two shots by Abby Mak and a try each by Tiffany Anderson, Taylert, and Nemani. 

King's began another power play in the 13th minute of the second period, and Lebanon Valley held the opposition to one shot that was saved by Alexander during a successful penalty kill. The goaltender also saved a shot at the 16:41 mark, maintaining LVC's lead. The Dutchmen followed this with a shot on goal each by Dalke and Taylert, within 10 seconds in the 18th minute. The Monarchs later began a power play with just 57 seconds left in the frame, and Lebanon Valley kept the squad from putting a shot on target before the second intermission.

The Flying Dutchmen continued to produce defensively when the third period got underway, preventing the opposition from taking a shot while completing a successful penalty kill. Alexander also made a save for LVC 3:39 into the frame. Lebanon Valley found the net again 4:04 into the third, taking a 2-0 advantage. The program went up by two when Campanile scored a goal, following assists by Schmidt and Laura Radford. The Dutchmen quickly scored again 4:36 into the period, going ahead 3-0. The team added its third tally when Taylert netted a goal after an assist by Dale. The Monarchs later logged a shot on goal 7:09 into the third, which Alexander saved for Lebanon Valley. 

King's began a power play in the eighth minute of the third period and pulled its goalie, prompting the team to have a 6-on-4 advantage in skaters. The Flying Dutchmen then scored on a short-handed, empty net goal by Dale 8:20 into the frame, extending their lead to 4-0. Crouch was also credited with an assist on this goal. LVC continued its dominant effort as the period went on, as the squad outshot the opposition 7-2 over the next 10:28. During this stretch, Alexander posted a save, and Schmidt blocked a shot during a successful penalty kill that ended in the 14th minute. Lebanon Valley later tacked on an insurance point with just 1:10 left, securing its 5-0 win. Taylert scored the program's final goal of the night, courtesy of assists by McKeigue and Dale.

  • The Dutchmen clinched a spot in the MAC Championship for a second consecutive season. 
  • Lebanon Valley swept its three-game season series against King's. 
  • Dale recorded a game-high four points to match a season-high, by tying game-highs with two goals and two assists. The junior also matched a season-high in assists. Her first goal was her fifth game-winner of the campaign, which tied her own single-season program record of five game-winning goals. Dale originally set this mark during the 2024-25 season. The junior now has 15 goals and leads the team with 16 assists and 31 points this winter. She has tallied at least one point in each of her last seven games. 
  • Taylert tied a game-high and career-high two goals. The sophomore leads LVC with 16 goals this season. 
  • Campanile found the net for the third time during the campaign. 
  • Crouch registered a season-high two assists, which tied a game-high. The first-year now has six assists during the campaign. Crouch's first assist of the contest was on Dale's game-winning goal. Additionally, Crouch set a season-high with two points. 
  • Schmidt was credited with her sixth assist of the winter on Campanile's goal, while winning a faceoff and blocking a shot. 
  • McKeigue dished out her fifth assist of the campaign on Taylert's second goal. The first-year also blocked a shot on the defensive end. 
  • Radford recorded her second assist of the year on Campanile's goal. 
  • Alexander made 12 saves during her third shutout performance of the year. 
  • The Dutchmen outshot the Monarchs 52-12. 
  • Pennino logged a game-high and season-high seven shots on goal, while blocking a shot. 
  • LVC blocked five shots on the defensive end. 
  • The Flying Dutchmen had a 45-23 advantage in faceoff victories. 
  • Romano went 17-for-18 in faceoff opportunities, marking a game-high and her season-high in faceoff wins. 
  • Anderson won 12 faceoffs.
  • Nemani posted 11 faceoff victories while tying a season-high two blocks.

The Dutchmen will return to the ice on Friday, Feb. 13, at 4 p.m., when the team will host Neumann University at Hersheypark Arena.
