Alaoui Scores Twice for Women’s Ice Hockey in Win Over Neumann

HERSHEY, Pa. Addi Alaoui scored two goals for the Lebanon Valley College women's ice hockey team, helping lead the program to a 4-0 victory over Neumann University on Friday, Feb. 13 at Hersheypark Arena. The win secured LVC's sweep of the season series against the Knights.

The Dutchmen (16-6-0, 13-5-0 MAC) were aggressive offensively early in the game, putting 10 shots on goal that were saved during the first 9:12 of the first period. The Knights (6-17-0, 4-15-0 MAC) countered with shots at the 9:29 and 9:40 marks, which resulted in goaltender Savannah Alexander making a pair of saves for LVC. Neumann then began power plays in the 10th and 12th minutes, but Alexander answered with three saves for Lebanon Valley during successful penalty kills. The goaltender made one of these stops at the 11:46 mark, while the opposition had a 5-on-3 advantage.

The Flying Dutchmen continued to send the puck toward the net as the first period progressed, as Addison Taylert put a shot on target that was saved at the 14:57 mark. The Knights started another power play in the 16th minute, but LVC kept the opposition from attempting a shot during another successful penalty kill.  Lebanon Valley opened the scoring with 50.6 seconds left in the period, taking a 1-0 lead. The program struck first when Addi Alaoui sent the puck into the back of the net, courtesy of assists by Leela Nemani and Mallory Burdick.

The Dutchmen completed a power play during the first 1:56 of the second period, and the program took five shots that were saved during this stretch. Tiffany Anderson and Anna Dale each registered two attempts during this span. LVC proceeded to put six more shots on target that were saved over the next six minutes. Lebanon Valley then found the net again 8:21 into the frame, taking a 2-0 advantage. The squad went ahead by two on Alaoui's second goal, after an assist by Nemani.

The Flying Dutchmen began another power play in the ninth minute and capitalized at the 9:01 mark, extending their lead to 3-0. The team added a tally on a power-play goal by Taylert, following assists by Anderson and Abby Mak. Lebanon Valley kept logging shots as the second period went on, and the program outshot Neumann 7-3 during the rest of the frame. During this stretch, Alexander posted more saves for LVC at the 12:13, 15:13, and 18:32 marks.

The Dutchmen continued to generate offensive opportunities when the third period got underway, putting five shots on goal during the first 4:22.
