ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College men's soccer team delivered a valiant effort against Stevens Institute of Technology on Homecoming, battling to a 0-0 tie on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Herbert Field.
The Dutchmen (8-2-2, 1-0-1 MAC Freedom) worked to create scoring chances from the start, as
Jack Bowman put a shot on goal that was saved at the 2:26 mark and
Michael Enyeama had an attempt go over the net at the 7:26 mark. The Ducks (5-2-3, 0-1-2 MAC Freedom) countered with a shot that LVC blocked at the 14:04 mark, and a try that went off the right post at the 15:34 mark. Lebanon Valley also blocked a shot by Stevens at the 16:38 mark, and goalkeeper
Isaac Yerger came through with a save at the 20:43 mark. The programs proceeded to go back and forth for over 12 minutes, as neither squad took a shot during this stretch.
Stevens logged another shot 32:51 into the contest, which went over the net. The Dutchmen followed this by generating several offensive opportunities, outshooting the opposition 6-0 during the rest of the first stanza. During this stretch,
Will Burton sent a shot off the crossbar at the 37:02 mark.
Gavin Rapp and
Eli Colantoni each put a shot on target for LVC as well, which were saved within 23 seconds in the 41st minute.
Lebanon Valley kept sending the ball toward the net when the second half got underway, as
Charlie Kramer tallied a shot that went over the upper-left corner of the net at the 52:47 mark and Rapp had a try go to the right of the net at the 55:11 mark. The Ducks countered with a shot off the right post 56:34 into the contest. The Flying Dutchmen responded with a shot on goal by Enyeama that was saved and a shot off the crossbar by Rapp within 38 seconds in the 63rd minute.
LVC remained aggressive offensively as the second stanza went on, as Bowman took a shot that was saved at the 74:25 mark before
Eli Yerger had a try saved at the 76:54 mark. Stevens then registered four off-target shots over the next 9:50. During this stretch, Rapp also took a shot for Lebanon Valley that went over the net. The Dutchmen kept battling until the final minute, as Kramer took a shot that went to the right of the net with less than a minute to go. Ultimately, the contest concluded in a 0-0 tie.
